Sako Oy, a company based in Riihimäki, Finland, known both in Finland and abroad as a designer and manufacturer of high-quality hunting, military and sporting rifles and cartridges, has been honoured as Prime Contractor for 2023.

Founded in 1921, Sako has grown over time to become Europe's largest rifle manufacturer, now producing more than 100,000 rifles per year. The company is now part of the world's oldest family-owned industrial group, the Italian Beretta Group. The cooperation, which started in 2000, has enabled Sako to modernise its factory, diversify production and improve its international marketing.

Sako has remained a strong and proudly Finnish company. Its headquarters and factory are located in Riihimäki, and the company employs more than 400 professionals in Finland. Sako's firearms have been granted the right to use the ‘Key Flag’ and ‘Design from Finland’ symbols, which indicate the domestic origin of the products.

“The panel of judges justifies its decision on the basis of Sako's fine tradition, technically and visually high-quality products and profitable growth. The strong growth in recent years creates a great basis for the company to aim high in the coming decades,” says Tomi Parmasuo, Chairman of the LOGY Subcontracting Awards Committee.
